About LEAP
The Leading Healthy Eating and Activity Promotion (LEAP) program was created for cancer survivors and the friends and family of cancer survivors (co-survivors) and is based on the American Cancer Society (ACS) Diet and Physical Activity Guidelines and three National Cancer Institute supported randomized controlled trials of people living after cancer (trials: NCT00303875, NCT00630591, NCT00929617).
The LEAP program offers personalized information and tools to help you reach and maintain a healthy weight through healthy eating and exercise. Eating a healthful diet, exercising regularly, and achieving a healthy weight is important for everyone – but it is especially important for people who have had cancer and their friends and family. The information provided is appropriate for those with or without chronic conditions who wish to start and maintain an exercise regimen and healthy diet. Before you get started on a new exercise program, ask your doctor what is safe for your current fitness level as this information is not a substitute for personalized medical advice.
LEAP is developed and maintained by the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB).
